Town of Aurora Citizen of the Year 2020: Tom Connor, Program Manager

June 18, 2020

We are very proud to share that Tom Connor, Program Manager for Comtech, was awarded the 2020 “Citizen of the Year” for the Town of Aurora.

Aurora's Mayor, Tom Mrakas, shared some inspiring words about Tom, as recorded in the Auroran News.

"He [Tom] is a devoted volunteer giving his time over the past four decades to various organizations in Aurora such as the Aurora Minor Hockey Association, Aurora Youth Soccer, the Optimist Club of Aurora, the Town's Committee of Adjustment, the Aurora Public Library Board, and Martha's Table to name a few. Tom's compassion, dedication and commitment to our Town is inspiring. His lifelong goal of giving back to others shows us the importance of volunteering and the positive impact on our community. His drive to serve and better the lives of others gives us hope, especially in times like this, where hope and positive contributions to our fellow neighbours and friends will help us move forward through adversity and instill much-needed change."

The Comtech team is proud of Tom's outstanding achievement, dedication and the impact he has made to his hometown and to the broader York Region community in his role as Program Manager for the vivaNext program.

As a longtime resident of Aurora himself, Charles Wheeler, Comtech’s Executive Vice President knows first-hand the important positive impacts that volunteer hours have on the community. “The Citizen of the Year in the Town of Aurora is a big deal, and this honour is hard earned by those who are recognized,” says Charles. “Congratulations Tom on behalf of the entire Comtech team!”
