Overview
Bruce Power is the world's second-largest nuclear power plant and has provided the province of Ontario with 30 percent of its power (6,550 MW annually) since 2001. As part of Ontario's Long-Term Energy Plan, Bruce Power signed an agreement with the province of Ontario to refurbish six of its eight nuclear reactors. This $13 billion life extension program will create 22,000 jobs and inject $4 billion into Ontario's economy yearly.
Comtech was chosen to lead project control services at the Bruce Power Generating Station as part of the delivery team awarded a multi-year agreement providing project management and project controls services. The agreement includes oversight of Bruce Power's Major Component Replacement (MCR) Refurbishment, Project Management and Construction (PMC), Center of Site (COS) and Information Technology (IT) programs, amounting to upwards of 600 active projects. Once delivered, these projects will transform Bruce Power's energy generation capabilities, extending them beyond 2060. As a member of an integrated delivery team, Comtech is working collaboratively with our partner Sargent and Lundy, Bruce Power and its vendors, suppliers and contractors to support the successful delivery of these mission-critical programs.
